Resound isa softwareaudio delayeffect processorthatemulatesthe soundandoperation ofvintagemagnetic-tape echo units. Whilst not a direct copy ofanyoneparticular model,ittakes featuresfromseveral of the classic delay devices, and unites themintoaconvincingandpleasinglyretrosoundingeffect.
Resound not only models the characteristic mechanicalnoise presentin hardwaremagnetic-tape units,butalso allows the noiseto be controlled; fromgentlewarmthand distortion,to noisy,gritty, andunstable. The sound canbe shaped further usingthemoveablehighpassfilter.Andwithfeedbacksetbeyond a certainintensity, Resound iseven capableof self-oscillation.
Resound’s echoescan eitherbe syncedto thehosttempo (expressing delay times as musical subdivisionsof a beat, each echo will be exactly in time with thehost) or in free-time mode (allowing any delaytime,upto2seconds.) Thereversemodeadds furtherflexibility: by playing each delay backwards, Resoundcanproduceuniqueeffectsbeyondwhathardwaremagnetic-tape units are capable of.
